2.5 REQUIRED TO WORK ON A REST DAY

Regulation 18

Annex 8

PNB Circular 2018/3

(a) Compensation for working on a rest day applies to acting inspectors as well as constables and sergeants.  Temporary inspectors, inspectors and chief inspectors are entitled to another rest day.  Part-time workers are not required to work 40 hours per week before being compensated for working on a rest day.

(b) To help determine where days start and end it is important to note that the force day starts at 0700 unless otherwise determined by the chief constable.

(c) A rest day only loses its status as a rest day when it is re-rostered with at least 15 days’ notice.  Where an officer works on a rest day with less than 15 days’ notice it is a requirement to work on a rest day and not considered a tour of duty for the purposes of advancement of start time or recall to duty.
