4.8 CENTRAL SERVICE ALLOWANCES PAYABLE TO POLICE OFFICERS AT THE SCOTTISH POLICE COLLEGE

(a) The allowances payable to police officers at the Scottish Police College were revised with effect from 1 April 2001.  The revised allowance replaced separate rank allowances with a single allowance for all ranks of £2100.

(b) The allowance recognised the value of officers working long hours at the College and the domestic disturbance associated with a residential appointment.

(c) It is a non-pensionable allowance which contains an element of compensation for the longer hours which may be worked, and will be paid in addition to an officer’s pay.

(d) These allowances are not payable where there is no residential requirement.

(e)   These allowances to be removed where there is no residential requirement with effect from 010423.
