6.9 VARIABLE SHIFT ARRANGEMENTS (FEDERATED RANKS)
(a) Scottish Ministers determine the normal periods of duty of a constable.
(b) The chief constable may bring variable shift arrangements (VSAs) into operation in agreement with the Joint Central Committee.
(c) VSAs must provide for:
- hours of duty equivalent to those of a constable with a normal daily period of duty of eight hours (including a period for refreshment) and who receives a day’s leave on each public holiday and two rest days per week, and
- annual leave equivalent to that granted in accordance with Regulation 25 of the regulations and the Scottish Ministers’ determination of the annual leave of constables thereunder.
