5.8 GLASSES FOR OPERATIONAL USE

(a) An officer who considers they require safety glasses and are engaged on duties involving contact with the public or prisoners should obtain the relevant NHS prescription form from their own optometrist.  The optometrist should certify any variations beyond a basic prescription as necessary.

(b) All costs associated with certified necessary variations will be covered by the Service.  If not certified necessary, any additional expense for personal preference variation beyond the basic prescription e.g. tinted lenses, designer frames, etc. are to be covered by the individual.
